Video Production as a Supplement for Creative Living : CE933.00 Wednesdays, September 24 – November 12, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm /// Spend much of your time watching TV and movies? Congratulations! You haven’t been wasting time, you have been building a familiarity with the methods of time-based visual storytelling. This course will clarify these methods and show you how to utilize them. We will combine practical shooting and editing experience with critical discourse to gain confidence in personal video productions. With video technology advancements, full video production capabilities have become affordable to non-professionals. We will learn about professional production equipment and methods, merely to inform our low-budget approach. We will attain professional results using a low-budget camera, lighting, and shooting rigs (that we will provide). Adobe Premiere will be accessible in our computer lab, but you will be introduced to other inexpensive basic editing software. Our initial project will turn the cameras on ourselves for a “Reality-TV” style documentation of our initial brainstorming sessions. We will propose and discuss concepts for the following class projects. This class will introduce personal video production as a supplement for creative living.
